Be Safe in the Canyon
Stuðlagil has incredible natural formations, but also considerable danger. The river is icy cold and has a swift current, even when waters appear calm. Visitors should stay out of the water always. Paths can be slippery and edges unstable in many places, so be cautious, as falling may cause you to be pulled into the river. Always follow on site safety guidelines to avoid danger.
Keep in mind at all times
- Stay on marked paths
- Always respect closures
- Stay out of the water at all times
- Do not walk on the riverbank, as the terrain can be slippery and unstable
- Be careful as you traverse paths and stairs, especially when taking photos
Throughout the site, there are many marked paths and viewing platforms, designed to keep you safe and provide access to ideal views and photos. Please stay on these designated areas to ensure your safety. Even in these areas, be cautious and take necessary precautions.
Respect nature!
